When one proclaims, "anything you put on the internet is there forever!", they are mistaken. In practice, most things posted on the internet have a lifespan of 10-25ish years. Which is a shame to me - swaths of historic content are destined to become gone and forgotten.
Where we are now, few platforms will weather the ever-changing, hostile landscape of the Internet; only accelerated by consumerism and censorship. Naturally, many a website or imagehost (e.g. photobucket, gfycat) becomes obsolete, and unfathomable amounts of data or function are lost to the ether. At the same time, common conversation over the web feels as though it becomes more sterilized and diluted, and the champions of debates are simply those who are the loudest with their buzzwords.
This is upsetting to me. Call it being stuck in the past, but watching one of your favorite places lose the character it once had SUCKS. I have seen sentiment akin to my own appear more and more, and I could lament on and on... but I won't - not here at least.

Really, all that was to say: I've got a little fixation in digging up goobabs from the bygone era of the 2000s, the Internet's Western Frontier, or uh, Wild West period. Y'know.
On this page, scroll down and find a load of old-web websites and media I've dug up.
