I love music. It's a potent conduit for one's emotions, and there is a limitless supply of new music to discover.
I listen to a huge variety of music, but for now this is a WIP catalogue of my CDs and thoughts on them.

Thoughts

Biohazard - New World Disorder (Rap Rock) Oh boy, this is a STANKY album. I bought it because it looked cool. Oh my god, it's FUCKING TERRIBLE! I'd describe it as ICP if they were obnoxious and had absolutely zero talent or class.

★☆☆☆☆
Brujeria - Pocho Aztlan (Death Metal) It's all in spanish, so I don't understand the lyrics, and the musicianship is alright. That's about all I've got. Not sure why I have this!

★★☆☆☆
Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas (Dream Pop) Ugh, god. Listening to this on psychs is on my to-do list. The album is aptly named. Each song feels heavenly to listen to. "Cherry-colored Funk" makes me feel like I'm living in a dream, every time, without fail. I love this album.

★★★★★
Cradle of Filth - From Cradle to Enslave
(Symphonic Black Metal)
I like this one. A lot of experimentation on this album and it kind of works, especially so in the latter half.

★★★☆☆
Deftones - Ohms (Alt Metal) Okay Deftones album. It's better than Gore, their previous release, but it's still just okay. I was never a fan of their denser music and much prefer good ol' nu-metal. I did get this one as a gift from my girlfriend though, so it's special :)

★★★☆☆
Deftones - Around the Fur (Nu Metal) Iconic. This is the album would set Deftones on the path to be one of the most unique nu-metal bands. Insane energy in each track.

★★★★★
Foo Fighters - Greatest Hits (Alt Rock) It feels kind of unfair to rank this seeing as it's a compilation album of their best stuff, but yeah, it's Foo Fighters. It's what it says on the cover.

★★★★★
Korn - Follow the Leader (Nu Metal) This might be a hot take, but I love this album. It's hilariously... Korn-y? Heh. Yeah, it's got some of their most iconic songs, and the rap battle between Fred Durst and Jordison is so bad it's good. Weird place in my heart.

★★★★☆
Napalm Death - Throes of Joy in The Jaws of
Defeatism (Grindcore)
Aw hell yeah! The fathers of grindcore have been pretty consistent over their 35+ year career, and I love the genre, but in my opinion music like this is only truly enjoyable performed live.

★★★✯☆
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon (Art Rock) Whoa-oa-hoaahaaa haaaaaAAyayaa aAAAAAaaAOOOoooooAAaaaayea OoOOOOOo HAAAAAaa AAAAAAAAAHhhHHAAAaaaaa aaahahhh hahahhEYEEYYEYEYYAAAAA AYYA AYYAAHHH AHHHHAAAAAA HAAAAAAaaaa AHHAHHhh...(cont)

★★★★★
Pink Floyd - The Wall (Rock Opera/Concept Album) The Wall is an absolute masterpiece. Even if you hate Roger Waters, or think there's too much filler, or whatever, you can't call this album bad. I don't want to overflow this little table I have, but just go listen to it in full or BETTER YET watch the film.

★★★★★
Portishead - Dummy (Trip Hop) Magnum opus of the trip-hop genre. Stunning vocals laid over lush, sometimes haunting background tracks. To me, it invokes a specific image of a foggy night in Brooklyn. No bad songs.

★★★★★
Queens of the Stone Age - Songs for the Deaf (Stoner Rock/Concept Album) An album that takes you on a journey through California via mimicking flipping through your car radio - seriously. Some of Dave Grohl's best drum-playing, which really says something.

★★★★★
Rage Against the Machine - Self-Titled (Rap Metal) This album is legendary for its greatness through simplicity, though I think a lot of the tracks are actually just a touch too in-your-face with its edge for my taste. (yes, I know that's the point)

★★★★☆
Serj Tankian - Elect the Dead (Alt Metal) I bought this one because it had Serj's name on it. Well, as it turns out, S.O.A.D. is really the sum of its parts. The songs are repetitive and not unique. Bleh.

★★☆☆☆
Television - Marquee Moon (Post-Punk) This is the one that outs me as a RYM user, for sure. It's a really nice, smooth listen the whole way through and it's clear the genre owes a lot to this album in spite of how little I hear about it.
